At a Glance — New Perfumes 2026

These are the new perfumes 2026 has brought that I think are worth smelling — the launches that do something genuinely different, not just another flanker. Eight for her, five for him, and one 100% natural launch of my own. They are new releases, so rather than give longevity verdicts I haven’t tested over a full season, I’ve described what each one is trying to do and who it suits.

New perfumes 2026: the three big trends

Looking across the new perfumes 2026 has brought, three directions stand out.

  • Skin scents keep growing. Soft musks and ambrette — fragrances that sit close and smell like a better version of your own skin — are everywhere, from Hermès to the high street. Most rely on synthetic musks; a few, like Carissis, use plant materials instead.
  • Violet is back. Both the powdery flower and the green, cucumber-like violet leaf return in launches from Dries Van Noten and Le Labo.
  • Warm gourmand woods for men. Cocoa, tobacco, vanilla and balsams dominate the autumn men’s launches, led by Tom Ford Tobacco Chocolat.

Orange blossom also runs through several of the new perfumes 2026 has produced — in Byredo, Penhaligon’s and Elie Saab — usually softened with cream, vanilla or musk rather than worn bright.

New perfumes 2026: the 100% natural launch — Carissis

Carissis natural skin scent eau de parfum by Prosody London — one of the new perfumes of 2026
Carissis — ambrette seed, violet leaf, rose and peach. 100% natural.

Key notes: melon, lavender and caraway; styrax, rose and peach; ambrette seed and violet leaf.

Carissis is my own 2026 launch, and my answer to the skin-scent trend. Where most skin scents are built on synthetic “clean laundry” musks, Carissis is built on ambrette seed — often called the vegetable musk — which gives that same soft, velvety, close-to-the-body warmth from a plant.

Melon and lavender open it with a cool, almost water-like clarity, and caraway adds a small, human warmth. The heart brings rose, peach and styrax, which has a faintly leathery, skin-like quality. It doesn’t announce you; it lingers close, like a shared secret.

New perfumes 2026 for her

1. Contre-Jour, Frédéric Malle

Key notes: coffee, saffron, rose, narcissus, immortelle, sandalwood, cedar.

Annick Ménardo builds this around immortelle, the Mediterranean everlasting flower, and its honeyed, almost hay-like warmth turns the rose golden rather than romantic. It’s for someone who already owns a classic rose and wants to hear the note differently.

The botanical alternative: Rose Rondeaux takes the same warm-rose direction, with Rosa damascena otto over labdanum and sandalwood.

2. Musc Pallida Eau de Parfum, Hermès

Key notes: aldehydes, Iris pallida, soft musk.

Christine Nagel’s Musc Pallida first appeared in the Hermessence collection; this year’s eau de parfum brings it to a wider audience. It is powdery, intimate and restrained — the kind of scent people notice only when they lean in.

The botanical alternative: Carissis, for the same close, skin-like intimacy built on ambrette seed rather than synthetic musk.

3. Future Memories, Byredo

Key notes: blackcurrant, aldehydes, galbanum, iris butter, orange blossom, labdanum, vanilla, musk.

One of the more ambitious autumn launches: a bright, green blackcurrant opening that settles into iris and orange blossom over a warm labdanum and vanilla base. Nostalgic in mood, as the name suggests.

4. Pure Musc Blanc For Her, Narciso Rodriguez

Key notes: jasmine, bergamot, aldehydes, white flowers, musk, vanilla, cedar, amber.

Sonia Constant opens with bright, polished jasmine and moves into Narciso Rodriguez’s signature musk. It is the most immediately wearable launch of the year — soft, clean and easy to wear to the office.

The botanical alternative: Jacinth Jonquil, for jasmine with real depth: ylang ylang and clove leaf, over benzoin, frankincense and sandalwood.

5. Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu, Chanel

Key notes: grapefruit, lychee, rose, jasmine, patchouli, vetiver, vanilla.

Chanel’s newest take on Coco Mademoiselle keeps the patchouli-rose backbone but adds juicy lychee up top and a softer vanilla in the base. If you love the original, this is the warmer, fruitier sister.

6. Velvet Violet, Dries Van Noten

Key notes: pink pepper, violet leaf, clary sage, toasted sesame, roasted barley, tonka bean, benzoin, vetiver.

The most unusual launch on this list. Violet leaf meets toasted sesame and roasted barley, so the flower comes across nutty, warm and almost edible. A good choice for anyone bored of sweet gourmands.

7. Violette 30, Le Labo

Key notes: white violet, greens, florals, white tea, woods.

Le Labo’s violet is the opposite of Dries Van Noten’s: cool, green and airy, with white tea keeping it light. A quiet daytime scent.

8. The Manoeuvres of the Baroness, Penhaligon’s

Key notes: orange blossom, Chantilly cream, sandalwood, incense.

Orange blossom whipped with a creamy Chantilly accord, then grounded with sandalwood and a thread of incense. Soft, plush and very wearable in autumn.

New men’s fragrances 2026

9. Tobacco Chocolat, Tom Ford

Key notes: cocoa, chocolate, orange, patchouli, Peru balsam.

A darker, cocoa-led cousin to Tobacco Vanille. Orange brightens the opening, then chocolate and patchouli settle over a resinous Peru balsam base. Made for cold evenings.

The botanical alternative: Mocha Muscari, an ambery, chocolaty scent over black agarwood and sandalwood — 100% natural.

10. Oud Velvet Mood, Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Key notes: oud, leather, copaiba balm, saffron, peach, jasmine.

The newest addition to Kurkdjian’s Oud Mood collection, and the richest: saffron and peach soften a leathery oud, with copaiba balm giving it a smooth, resinous depth.

The botanical alternative: Oud Octavo, built on real Vietnamese black agarwood with cinnamon, labdanum and cedarwood.

11. Cedro Virtuoso, Acqua di Parma

Key notes: bergamot, hazelnut, Virginia cedarwood.

A woody gourmand from a house better known for citrus. Hazelnut gives the cedar a toasted, creamy edge — an easy autumn signature.

12. Legend Elixir, Montblanc

Key notes: bergamot, pink pepper, lavender, sage, iris, vanilla.

Montblanc’s Legend goes warmer and denser: lavender and sage over a soft iris and vanilla base. A strong-value pick in a year of expensive launches.

13. L’Homme Intense, Elie Saab

Key notes: neroli, cardamom, lemon, violet leaf, leather, cedar, patchouli.

Neroli and cardamom up front, leather and cedar underneath. It’s a polished, slightly spicy take on orange blossom for men.

How to try new perfumes without wasting money

  • Smell on skin, not paper. Spray a new perfume on your wrist and live with it for a day before deciding. The opening you smell at the counter is only the first ten minutes.
  • Wait for the dry down. Most new perfumes are designed to impress quickly. The base notes, an hour or more in, are what you’ll actually wear.
  • Try one thing at a time. Testing four launches at once tires your nose and blurs them together.
  • Start with samples. A 2ml sample tells you far more than a counter spray.

Try Carissis before you commit. It’s available as a 2ml sample — choose any six of my perfumes in the Build Your Own 6 × 2ml Discovery Set, or four in the Build Your Own 4 × 2ml Discovery Set.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best new perfumes of 2026?

For women, the launches I’d seek out first are Frédéric Malle Contre-Jour, Hermès Musc Pallida Eau de Parfum and Byredo Future Memories. For men, Tom Ford Tobacco Chocolat and Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Velvet Mood are the most interesting new releases of the year. For a 100% natural new perfume, Carissis by Prosody London is a botanical ambrette skin scent launched in 2026.

What are the new men’s fragrances in 2026?

This autumn’s men’s launches include Tom Ford Tobacco Chocolat, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Velvet Mood, Acqua di Parma Cedro Virtuoso, Montblanc Legend Elixir and Elie Saab L’Homme Intense. The overall direction is warmer and more gourmand: cocoa, vanilla, leather and balsams.

What is the perfume trend for 2026?

Three trends stand out among the new perfumes 2026 has brought: skin scents built on soft musks and ambrette; a revival of violet and violet leaf; and warm gourmand woods, especially cocoa, tobacco and vanilla. Orange blossom also appears across several of the year’s launches.

Are there any natural new perfumes in 2026?

Yes. Carissis by Prosody London launched in 2026 as a 100% natural skin scent, built on ambrette seed — the botanical alternative to synthetic musk — with violet leaf, rose, styrax and peach. Most mainstream “skin scents” rely on synthetic musks and molecules such as Iso E Super; Carissis gets the same close, intimate effect from plant materials alone.

When do new perfumes launch each year?

Most houses launch in two waves: spring, ahead of Mother’s Day and summer, and late summer to autumn, ahead of Christmas. That’s why September and October are the busiest months for new perfumes.
