New men’s fragrances 2026 are warmer, sweeter and more varied than last year. These are the launches I think are worth smelling: 13 launches from this year, grouped by style, chosen by a working perfumer rather than a marketing calendar. Because they are new, I have described what each one sets out to do and who it suits, rather than giving verdicts on wear I have not yet tested across a full season. Where it helps, I suggest a 100% botanical alternative from Prosody London — and I start with Carissis, my own 2026 launch.

New men’s fragrances 2026: the trends
Looking across this year’s men’s launches, three directions stand out.
- Warmer, sweeter and more gourmand. Cocoa, coffee, tonka, vanilla, cherry and chestnut run through the autumn launches, from Tom Ford Tobacco Chocolat to Loewe Wild Coffee and Armani Stronger With You Powerfully.
- Flankers going “Elixir” and “Intense”. Montblanc, Burberry, Hugo Boss and Elie Saab have all released deeper, denser versions of best-sellers rather than entirely new ideas.
- Orange blossom for men. Once seen as a feminine note, it now anchors launches from Hugo Boss and Elie Saab — usually darkened with leather.
The counter-trend is skin scents: quieter fragrances that sit close and smell like a better version of your own skin. Most rely on synthetic musks. A few, like Carissis, use plant materials instead.
The 100% natural launch of 2026 — Carissis
Key notes: melon, lavender and caraway; styrax, rose and peach; ambrette seed and violet leaf.
Carissis is my own 2026 launch, and it is as much for men as for women. Where most skin scents are built on synthetic “clean laundry” musks, Carissis is built on ambrette seed — often called the vegetable musk — which gives that soft, velvety warmth from a plant. Lavender and caraway give it a cool-warm opening that wears particularly well on men, and styrax adds a faintly leathery, skin-like quality. It doesn’t announce you; it lingers close.

1. Light Blue Pour Homme Eau de Parfum, Dolce & Gabbana
Key notes: Calabrian yellow mandarin, seawater, cypress, cedarwood.
Alberto Morillas takes the 2007 original and gives it more body at eau de parfum strength: the same sunny Mediterranean idea, but the cypress and cedarwood now carry it rather than the citrus alone. The easiest new launch on this list to wear every day.
The botanical alternative: Ocean Commotion, for a sea air built from marram grass, kombu and Vesuvian lichen rather than a synthetic aquatic accord.
2. Eau Fraîche Extreme, Versace
Key notes: lemon, orange blossom, clary sage, lavender, geranium, pink pepper, cedarwood, musk.
A sharper, more aromatic take on Versace’s summer classic. The clary sage and lavender give it a clean-shaven, barbershop edge, with pink pepper keeping the opening lively.
The botanical alternative: A Capella Ray, Sicilian lemon and black pepper over Bulgarian rose and warm woods.
3. Original Aqua Eau de Parfum, Lacoste
Key notes: clary sage, lavender, caviar accord, vetiver, amber woods.
Lavender and clary sage up top, a salty “caviar” accord in the heart and vetiver underneath. An unusual, mineral twist on the fresh aromatic style.

4. Cedro Virtuoso, Acqua di Parma
Key notes: hazelnut, bergamot, Virginia cedarwood.
A woody gourmand from a house better known for citrus. Hazelnut gives the cedar a toasted, creamy edge — an easy autumn signature that never feels heavy.
5. For Him Musc Santal, Narciso Rodriguez
Key notes: clary sage, juniper berry, musk, cedarwood, sandalwood.
Florian Gallo builds this around Narciso’s signature musk, softened with sandalwood and sharpened by juniper and clary sage. Close to the skin, clean and quietly sensual.
The botanical alternative: Santal Foy, a creamy sandalwood skin scent with coconut, tonka, myrrh and vanilla — and no synthetic musk.
6. BOSS Bottled Beyond Intense, Hugo Boss
Key notes: orange blossom absolute, leather.
Bottled goes darker: orange blossom absolute over a textured leather accord. One of the more grown-up launches from a mainstream house this year.
The botanical alternative: Whistle Moon, where neroli and melon brighten a resinous base of myrrh and seaweed.

7. Tobacco Chocolat, Tom Ford
Key notes: cocoa, chocolate, orange, patchouli, Peru balsam.
A darker, cocoa-led cousin to Tobacco Vanille. Orange brightens the opening, then chocolate and patchouli settle over a resinous Peru balsam base. Made for cold evenings.
The botanical alternative: Mocha Muscari, ambery and chocolaty over black agarwood and sandalwood — 100% natural.
8. Wild Coffee, Loewe
Key notes: orange, cinnamon, cardamom, guava, passion fruit, caramel, coffee, tonka bean, vanilla, oud.
Exotic fruit and spice on top, a roasted coffee, tonka and oud base underneath. Playful and unexpected — a gourmand that does not take itself too seriously.
9. Legend Elixir, Montblanc
Key notes: bergamot, pink pepper, lavender, sage, iris, vanilla.
Montblanc’s Legend goes warmer and denser: lavender and sage over a soft iris and vanilla base. A strong-value pick in a year of expensive launches.
10. Hero Elixir de Parfum, Burberry
Key notes: tonka, vanilla, leather, cedarwood.
The richest version of Hero yet: tonka and vanilla over leather and a trio of cedarwoods. Dense, smooth and best kept for the evening.
11. Stronger With You Powerfully, Emporio Armani
Key notes: cherry, mandarin orange, spices, lavender, chestnut, vanilla, amberwood.
Cherry and chestnut push this further into gourmand territory than any previous Stronger With You. Sweet, spiced and very much a crowd-pleaser.

12. Oud Velvet Mood, Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Key notes: oud, leather, copaiba balm, saffron, peach, jasmine.
The newest addition to Kurkdjian’s Oud Mood collection, and the richest: saffron and peach soften a leathery oud, with copaiba balm giving it a smooth, resinous depth.
The botanical alternative: Oud Octavo, built on real Vietnamese black agarwood with cinnamon, labdanum and sandalwood.
13. L’Homme Intense, Elie Saab
Key notes: neroli, cardamom, lemon, violet leaf, leather, cedar, patchouli.
Neroli and cardamom up front, leather and cedar underneath. A polished, slightly spicy take on orange blossom for men.
How to choose a new fragrance without wasting money
- Smell it on skin, not on paper. Spray your wrist and live with it for a day. The opening at the counter is only the first few minutes.
